Kathmandu City


Kathmandu is the capital city of Hindu kingdom Nepal. It is named after the structure Durbar Square called Kasthamandap that means 'covered shelter'. It Covers an area of 50.67 square kilometers and 1,350 meters (4430 feet) above sea level.I t is located in the central part of Nepal. It is situated in a valley surrounded by top hills. Kathmandu being the capital city of Nepal is rich in historical arts and monuments. It consists of many cultural sites which makes city beautiful and unique. The city is densely populated and people of different caste and culture can be found like Newars, Brahmins, Chhetri, Rai, Limbu, Gurung, Sherpa etc. They have their own occupation and culture.
                                   Kathmandu district, Bhaktapur district, Lalitpur district are the 3 districts of Kathmandu valley. Lalitpur and Bhaktapur are 2 main cities of Kathmandu which are two sisters cities. These cities are vary famous on ancient arts and monuments, historical temples and more. There are also many famous places and temples in Kathmandu valley. Among them Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath stupa, Boudhanath, Durbar  Square, Hanuman Dhoka, Bhimsen Tower (DHARAHARA), Narayanhiti Museum, Hotels etc are famous places which is becoming a attractive place for tourist to spend their holidays.
