Hanuman Dhoka

Hanuman Dhoka is a Old Royal Palace which is also called Durbar Square. It is located at center of Kathmandu,Nepal spreading the area over five acres. King Pratap Malla expand the area in 17th century with many temples. Up to 1886 the Royal family lived in this palace and later shifted to Narayanhiti Palace. Hanuman Dhoka is the entry gate to the palace where Hanuman (monkey god) is standing with a red cloth and an umbrella. The Durbar Square is complex and unique so it is one of the famous place of Nepal. Being one of the historical place of Nepal, government has implemented proper rules and for its security policies and military forces are appointed near this palace. There is also unique temple called Pancha Mukhi Hanuman Temple (five faced hanuman) dedicated to Hanuman in northeast corner. It has a unique design of five circular roofs so many foreigners are attracted to have a view. In this temple only priest on that temple can enter in the temple. There are many other small and big temples near this temple. So Durbar Square is one of the historical and cultural monument of Nepal.
